Recording Devices During Service
Dash cameras and other in-vehicle audio or video recording devices must be turned off or disconnected before a vehicle enters our service facility or is worked on by our team.
Customers are responsible for disconnecting or disabling their recording devices prior to service and for reconnecting or re-enabling them after their vehicle has been returned.
This policy applies to dash cameras and other aftermarket or portable devices capable of recording audio, video or other information while the vehicle is in our care.
Why Do We Have This Policy?
Our service facilities are active workplaces where employees, customers and third parties may be present and spaces that both personal, confidential or business-related conversations may occur. A recording device left operating inside a vehicle may unintentionally capture:
West Coast Detail takes the privacy of our customers and employees seriously and maintains this policy as part of our commitment to protecting personal information and maintaining a respectful workplace. The policy also helps limit concerns associated with aftermarket electronic equipment during diagnostic, repair and maintenance procedures, some of which may involve battery disconnection, electrical testing, system resets or other work affecting vehicle electronics.
Customer Responsibility
If your vehicle is equipped with a dash camera or another recording device, please disconnect or disable the device before leaving your vehicle with us for service.
Once service is complete and the vehicle has been returned to you, you are responsible for reconnecting or re-enabling the device. If a recording device is found to be operating while the vehicle is being serviced, our team may pause work and ask that the device be disabled before service continues.
Privacy
West Coast Detail handles personal information in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, including British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Our Dash Camera & In-Vehicle Recording Device Policy is intended to help protect the privacy of our employees, customers and others who may be present within our facilities.
